I've been following Brooklyn-based Maryanne Moodie's beautiful work for a long time and jumped at the opportunity when she announced her workshop at Makeshift Society during her short stay in San Francisco! It was so enjoyable and now I really love to weave every chance I get. There's so many different possibilities and experimentations I'd love to try in the near future. After completing my first weaving, I quickly got onto make my second one because I was terrified of forgetting all the techniques I learned! Knowledge that's used sticks to the mind!
Resources: There were quite of few experienced weavers I met who gave me some great recommendations on finding yarn + other resources around the Bay Area. So far, I learned that ImagiKnit carries an impressive collection of yarn in the city (although I haven't been myself yet). I also discovered A Verb for Keeping Warm (favorite so far) and Piedmont Yarn in Oakland. Maryanne created the hashtag #SFweavers to connect with other local weavers in my area. Lastly, here are two books I requested from my library: Weaving on a Cardboard Loom and Wall Hangings.
